Münsterhof is a town square situated in the Lindenhof quarter, the historical center of Zürich, Switzerland. It is located in front of the Fraumünster church, to the south of the Lindenhof hill, and is surrounded by medieval buildings, among them the guild houses "zur Waag", the former "Kämbel" guild house and, as of today, the art museum Zunfthaus zur Meisen.
Being the biggest town square within the former medieval town walls in the Altstadt of Zürich, situated on the left shore of the Limmat river, the square is accessibly by Stadthausquai, Poststrasse, Storchengasse and Waaggasse, and by the Münsterbrücke crossing the Limmat river to Limmatquai.
Prominently seen in this picture is the Fraumünster Abbey which was founded in 853 by Louis the German for his daughter Hildegard. The townsquare is is infact named after this abbey.Just to the right of the Fraumunster is the guild house of the Zunft zur Meisen. It houses the porcelain and faience collection of the Swiss National Museum. The guild house was built in 1757 as a representative Baroque city palace of the Zunft zur Meisen. Also visible is the Münsterbrücke between Grossmünster and Fraumünster.
I went to redo my Altstadt shot in the blue hour and ended up getting this one in between by walk from Bellevue to Central a few feet away from Limmatquai.
Again shot with the Canon 10-22 @ 13mm | f/16 | ISO 100 | 13 sec
